Dear Friends,
The cold wind and December snow here in Maryland make me think of those who at this very moment are shivering in the aftermath of a disaster that has taken not only their homes but everything they had. The heartbreaking images of our people—from the Central Highlands down to Phú Yên, Bình Thuận, Quảng Nam, and Huế—fill my heart with deep sorrow.
In the blink of an eye, the floodwaters swept away years of hard-earned savings, the modest stability that sheltered their lives, the hopes they held for the future, and, most painfully, the loved ones they cherished most. How can one fully describe the fear, the anguish, and the heartbreak our people are enduring? I am moved to tears seeing little children standing bewildered beside their parents on small patches of high ground, waiting for the waters to recede—surrounded only by the few belongings they managed to snatch in the darkness of night. And the sight of mothers and fathers holding tightly the box of noodles, the bag of rice, and the small packet of spices just received—embracing them with a gratitude too deep for words—stays with me.
I am grateful to so many whose love has poured generously into the flood-stricken areas in the form of life-sustaining food and aid. The sacrifices are immense—especially from communities who themselves have only recently emerged from their own floods, yet still choose to share with those now in greater need.
One cannot witness such suffering without one’s heart being moved to compassion—and to action.
Priests and sisters tirelessly accompanying the victims tell us that our people are now entering the most difficult phase: the struggle to rebuild from the devastation. With heartfelt solidarity, Việt Tộc wishes to join these efforts on our homeland—to help mend the wounds of loss—through small but meaningful “Rebuilding Projects,” such as providing basic household items, roofing materials, and school supplies for children, according to needs and means.
Việt Tộc sincerely hopes to count on your collaboration—so precious and so necessary—to help our communities recover as quickly as possible. I trust deeply in your generosity, which you have shown so consistently throughout these 27 years of walking with us in support of our Ethnic Minority brothers and sisters in the Central Highlands, the Northeast, and even in Chad, Africa.
I believe that our shared love will bring comfort and rekindle hope in the hearts of those suffering from this catastrophic flood.
My heartfelt thanks to each of you.
May God bless you and your families always, especially during this holy season in which the Word became Flesh to bring us faith and hope.
With affection,
Vang Tran

Accomplish Projects & Activities
The Vital Role of the Viet Toc Foundation: Our Benefactors’ Vision
Turning education to combat poverty requires time, awareness, and parental commitment. It also depends on the foresight and shared effort of spiritual, cultural, and community leaders alongside families in raising tomorrow’s leaders.
For over 25 years, your unwavering and steadfast support has served as testament to wisdom, compassion, and vision. Your generosity has truly transformed lives and uplifted communities, one student at a time.
Educational Support Program Includes:
- One-year scholarships for a elementary school, secondary school, college or university student
- One-year scholarship for an upper secondary school student
- Financial and group supports for those students living away from home
Essential Needs of Our People: A Collaborative Effort of Compassionate Hearts
Stepping into a settled life presents profound challenges for our ethnic communities. They face overwhelming shortages and a lack of knowledge to adapt—hunger and illness are often unavoidable. Medical costs far exceed their means.
This healthcare initiative has been made possible through the collaboration of dedicated physicians and compassionate volunteers in Vietnam. Together, they transform limited resources into meaningful and far-reaching services for thousands living in remote villages.
The medical support program includes:
- Mental health care and treatment to help patients reintegrate with their families and communities.
- Free medical checkups and medication distribution.
- Financial assistance for special cases requiring surgery, accident recovery, heart operations, and more.
Comfort and Support for Forgotten Lives in Leprosy Villages
Poverty compounded by leprosy has left many individuals abandoned and isolated in remote villages, cut off entirely from the outside world. Within these families, numerous children live alongside one or both parents suffering from the disease. These children require special attention and care.
The Viet Toc Foundation has responded with deep compassion, consistently extending support to these leprosy-affected communities through the provision of medicine and food—offering comfort and dignity to those most in need.
The leprosy village support program includes:
- Establishing medicine cabinets and distributing medication to leprosy patients.
- Creating wound care centers.
- Assisting with the construction of fresh water wells in villages.
- Sharing food supplies to help families facing hardship.
Basic Health and Sanitation for Montagnard Communities
Every day in remote villages in the highlands of Vietnam, millions suffer from a lack of access to clean, safe water. The Viet Toc Foundation is committed to helping meet the most basic health and sanitary needs of the impoverished Montagnard people—ensuring dignity, safety, and hope for a better future.
Without access to clean water, villagers are forced to bathe and wash in shared ditches, leading to the rapid spread of skin diseases like scabies—nearly impossible to eliminate under such conditions.
Given this reality, constructing a clean water well for communal use is essential to safeguarding public health, both now and in the future.
The Community Health Program includes:
- Providing clean water systems for villages
- Financial support to encourage long-term agricultural cultivation such as coffee and tea
- Organizing vocational training classes
