A life changing trip

I am so thankful that the Lord gave me a chance to visit Viet Nam. Even though I was there for only one week, I met Vietnamese men, women, and children whom I called my brothers & sisters. No matter where I came from, no matter that we are not speaking the same language, the Vietnamese, they are my brothers & sisters in Christ.

This trip had changed my way of looking at life. The Vietnamese people I met on my trip have changed my life. I feel so ashamed that I have not being honest to myself, to my life, to the calling of living the life God wanted me to live. The native Vietnamese people had helped me decide for my future. I want to be more honest with myself, and with others. I want to give more of myself to reach out to others in need.

I am touched with the hospitality I received from the people I met in Viet Nam. I’m a stranger in many ways. I don’t speak Vietnamese; the people I met don’t speak Korean or English; we communicate with hand gestures and drawing on a piece of paper; but we have so much fun and happiness just to be present with each other. Language is a barrier but it’s not an obstacle blocking our loves and happiness in sharing our feelings toward each other, whether it’s a smile, a hug, or a simple looking at each other.

I saw many children living in poor conditions. Their parents want the best for their children but are unable to make it possible. They hope that their children will have a better future but accept the life they had. I also met many people that willing to give up their comfortable life to live with the poorest of the poor, to understand their needs, and be there to help in any way they can.

I know it’s hard to change my old ways of life but I know now the reason God sent me on this journey, and He will help me live my life with honesty and not shame. It doesn’t matter how much time I had left in my life, I believe the Lord wants me to love and share what I have with my brothers & sisters, no matter who they are.

Dear Lord, thank you so much for you bringing me in to this world and for loving me first. You had a plan when you brought me into this world. You gave me hands to work and feet to walk, heart to love others. Any thing God gave me I’m going to share with my brothers & sisters in Viet Nam. I love the Lord, I love Viet Nam, and I love the people who live there.
