Dear brothers and sisters,
I thank God for your spiritual, and financial support to flood victims and the minorities of the highland regions during my missionary trips to Viet Nam.
At the end of 1997, following the closure of a mission to assist the refugees in Hong Kong, I have returned to Viet Nam and taken a whirlwind tour from the North to the South. Although, the civil war in Viet Nam ended 25 plus years ago, the impact and damages are far beyond one's imaginations. War torn Viet Nam has tried hard, but still has a long way to go in its rebuilding process. In Vietnam, there are still many needs that must be met. According to my observations, one of the most significant needs, which often gets neglected, is education for the minorities children. The hill tribes people in the highland regions I visited live in extreme poverty without the opportunity to pursue a better life.
After my initial visit, I have taken other follow-up trips to the same regions to investigate what I, what we, together can do for these unfortunate children. I found that $40 dollars is all that is needed to give a child the opportunity to go to school for one year. I beseech you and call you to help in providing these underprivileged children a means to get an education and thus a chance for a better future.
I also that God for allowing me to come into contact with you, generous souls who have sacrificed much in order to share with those less fortunate. Please continue to pray for one another. And let us, also, continue to extend our hands and broaden our circle of friendships. May God grant you and your family many blessings.
Regards,
Rev. Vang Cong Tran, CSsR
